$3 Million Ferrari 275 GTB/4 at Mecum

Mecum Glendale 2022 - Hugely Successful

Mecum held their most successful Glendale sale to date with a 53% increase over last year and 78% of all lots with a reserve price selling, resulting in $66.3 million in overall sales.

Private collections accounted for almost $20 million of the total sales including the Mile High Collection selling all lots for a total of $5.9 million. Other collections performed well such as the “Hooked on Vettes Collection” that sold all 13 of its Corvettes for a total of $1.5 million.

The most expensive car sold by Mecum in Glendale was a 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 that went for $3,025,000. It is an extremely well-documented car, a phenomenal example of the peak of development for the 275 series. It features Ferrari Classiche Certification and is equipped with one of only two spare V12 engines believed to have been built by the factory.

Considering the low production figures – Ferrari built 330 examples of the 275 GTB/4 – this car was well-bought by its new owner. If the market continues on the upward trajectory we’ve been seeing then it won’t take long for the winning bidder to see a reasonable return on investment – if he or she didn’t buy it for the pure pleasure of driving!
