Mecum and ESPN Deal
Mecum Auctions announced a multiyear media rights agreement with ESPN+, significantly enhancing the way their live auctions are broadcast. This partnership is expected to excite car collectors across the country by delivering Mecum’s dynamic auction events directly to ESPN+’s growing streaming platform.
Historically, Mecum Auctions has drawn audiences with its captivating live showcases of both classic and modern vehicles. By joining forces with ESPN+, they aim to extend their reach even further, accessing ESPN+’s extensive subscriber network. Beyond increasing viewership numbers, this alliance aims to share the thrill and excitement of Mecum’s auctions with a new wave of automotive enthusiasts.
The collaboration launches with an eventful start at the upcoming Mecum Glendale auction in Arizona, scheduled for March 20-22. Over three days, subscribers will enjoy six hours of live coverage daily, capturing the vibrant energy and suspense-filled moments as prized vehicles are auctioned off. This initial setup paves the way for a full lineup of Mecum events on ESPN+.
As part of the deal, ESPN+ will stream all 11 of Mecum’s live auctions throughout the year, offering more than 180 hours of live programming. This comprehensive coverage ensures fans won’t miss any highlights, from intense bidding wars over vintage muscle cars to the unveiling of impeccably restored classics.
For Mecum Auctions, this partnership opens doors to connect with a broader audience, particularly younger demographics who prefer streaming services for entertainment. For ESPN+, it provides an opportunity to diversify content offerings and attract a dedicated fan base. By integrating live auctions into the digital space, Mecum and ESPN+ are steering towards a future where collector car entertainment thrives.
