Bonhams Laguna Seca is set to debut on August 13, 2026, marking a historic first for Monterey Car Week. The sale moves to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in Salinas, California, ending a 29-year run near The Quail Lodge.
Why Bonhams Laguna Seca Is a Big Deal
For nearly three decades, Bonhams held its flagship Monterey Car Week sale alongside The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering in Carmel. That relationship began back in 2003 under the Brooks name.
As The Quail evolved into a more exclusive lifestyle event, Bonhams found its auction increasingly overshadowed on-site. The move to Laguna Seca gives the sale its own spotlight.
Bonhams Cars global managing director Whitney Maxwell said the new raceway venue offers “almost limitless space to grow.” WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca president Mel Harder called it a chance to bring “world-class auctions to the iconic setting of Laguna Seca.”

The sale is part of the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, the historic race festival that has grown since Friends of Laguna Seca took over track operations in 2024. Bonhams has partnered with the Reunion since 2011.

This is one of the top lots of the Bonhams Laguna Seca sale, estimated at $2,100,000 to $2,600,000. The Diablo GT is one of the rarest, most track-focused variants Lamborghini ever produced.
Chassis no. 04382 carries an estimate of $400,000 to $500,000. This Dino represents the last and most refined evolution of Enzo Ferrari’s mid-engine V6 project.
Chassis 0S2-1255 is offered without reserve, estimated at $650,000 to $800,000. It showcases Cord’s innovative retractable-top engineering from the Art Deco era.
Chassis HR31-128388 carries an estimate of $200,000 to $275,000. NISMO built this homologation special for Group A touring car competition, making it a key piece of Nissan’s Japanese racing heritage.
Chassis 861233 is offered without reserve, estimated at $175,000 to $225,000. This documented competition-history E-Type comes to Laguna Seca with no price floor.
How Last Year's Quail Sale Sets the Stage
The final Quail Auction in 2025 generated $44.7 million across 109 lots, with a 96 percent sell-through rate. A 2020 Bugatti Divo set an auction world record at $8.6 million, alongside record prices for an Apollo Intensa Emozione and a Pagani Huayra Roadster.
That strong momentum sets high expectations for Bonhams Laguna Seca’s debut. Even so, this year’s Monterey Car Week catalog leans toward accessible, sub-$3 million collector cars rather than nine-figure hypercars.
