2024 Ferrari 499P Modificata: From Le Mans to Private Hands

2024 Ferrari 499P Modificata Making History

The 2024 Ferrari 499P Modificata brought Ferrari’s modern sports-prototype technology to private owners, drawing directly from the 499P that won the centenary 24 Hours of Le Mans in June 2023. Unlike its competition counterpart, the Modificata was created exclusively for non-competitive track driving, without the technical restrictions governing the World Endurance Championship.

Born From Le Mans

Its origins lie in Ferrari’s return to top-level endurance racing in 2023, following a 50-year absence as a factory entrant in the premier category. That June, the No. 51 499P of Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and Antonio Giovinazzi delivered Ferrari’s first overall Le Mans victory since 1965. Ferrari unveiled the Modificata at Mugello on October 28, 2023, during its Finali Mondiali celebrations, linking the new customer car directly to that achievement.

Beyond Racing Regulations

The Modificata retained the racing car’s carbon-fiber monocoque, single-seat cockpit and hybrid layout, combining a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 with an electric motor driving the front axle. Freed from competition rules, Ferrari enabled electric assistance at low speeds and introduced a “Push to Pass” function, raising combined output to 640 kW – 870 metric horsepower, or approximately 858 hp – for up to seven seconds per activation. Dedicated Pirelli tires and revised suspension and electronic settings emphasized predictable behavior for customer drivers.

A New Customer Chapter

The car also inaugurated Ferrari’s Sport Prototipi Clienti program, which began its track activities at Mugello in March 2024. Owners received factory maintenance, logistical support and trackside assistance, extending Ferrari’s established client-driving activities into contemporary sports prototypes. During its first season, the Modificata appeared at circuits including Sonoma, Laguna Seca, Suzuka and the Nürburgring, with ten examples scheduled for the October Finali Mondiali at Imola. Its history is therefore rooted not in a competition record of its own, but in making Ferrari’s Le Mans-winning engineering available through a dedicated, factory-supported driving program.

Auction Debut in Geneva
