ModaMiami Shows Off
ModaMiami was a huge success in its first year last weekend in Coral Gables at The Biltmore Hotel. It took a different perspective on a collector car show than the expected concours d’Elegance to which we’ve all become accustomed.
Classics on Display at ModaMiami
A massive number of stunning classic and modern collectibles were on display including a shocking 8 that took Best in Show at the Pebble Beach Concours’ d’Elegance. Other notable cars that were on hand include a Mercedes-Benz “Silver Arrow” W 196 R that was driven by Juan Manuel Fangio that was displayed with Fangio’s 300 SL Roadster as well as a collection of 300 SL Gullwings and another 300 SL Roadster.
Modern Supercars
It wasn’t all classics on display – the McLaren Solus GT was shown, the first time we’ve seen one of them in the US. The Solus GT is a track-only, extremely limited production model, of which there will only be 25 ever built.
It’s powered by a V10 that generates 829 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque, all the power it needs to reach a top speed of 200 mph. It’s said that the Solus GT is as close to driving a Formula 1 car as possible, in part because it’s a single-seater and features lots of aerodynamic work inspired by McLaren’s Formula 1 development.
It was on display along with a McLaren F1 LM and a McLaren Elva.
RM Sotheby's Miami 2024
One of the biggest draws of ModaMiami was RM Sotheby’s auction that was another massive success, clearing $50 million in total sales.
Attendance at ModaMiami was high enough to make it the most attended automotive event in Florida, with more than 8,000 people enjoying the inaugural event. We can’t wait to find out what they have in store next year.
