New Land Rover Defender 130

Land Rover Defender 130 Announced

Considering the excitement we’ve seen in the truck and SUV segment of the collector vehicle market, we’re always looking for a future classic SUV. One of our favorite classic SUVs is the Land Rover Defender 90.

Land Rover must agree with us because they’re making the New Defender these days! Originally available as two models – the 90 and the 110 – Land Rover recently added the Defender 130 to their lineup.

Future Collectible?

What’s exciting about the new lineup of Defenders? Not only do they use the Defender name, but they actually live up to the reputation of the classic Defenders. They can cover pretty much any terrain, on-road or off-road, and the new Defender 130 can hold up to eight people.

Land Rover is building a limited run of First Edition models of the Defender 130. These will be available in three different configurations, each of which will showcase its own unique theme.

Starting at an MSRP of $68,000 before taxes and delivery, this won’t compete with the Ford Bronco or Jeep Wrangler quite the way the Defender 90 does, but we think Land Rover might have a hit on their hands. Will it end up being a collectible in the future? If all the enthusiasm for classic SUVs and trucks has taught us anything, it’s that something with the Defender name on it will usually find a buyer.
