Worldwide Auctioneers Auburn Results

An assortment of 400 vehicles crossed the block over Labor Day Weekend at the 54th Annual Auburn Auction and Show, held by Worldwide Auctioneers. There was something for every collector from supercars to pre-war, muscle cars, celebrity-affiliated cars, and a very notable motorcycle.

Worldwide Auctioneers proved up to the task, achieving a sell-through rate of 90% and total sales of $25 million.

The most expensive car sold in Auburn by Worldwide Auctioneers was the 1932 Auburn 12-160A Boattail Speedster that caught everyone’s eye when it was prominently displayed before its turn on the auction block. All-in, the Auburn sold for $1,022,000 and proved to be the only lot to break the seven-figure barrier.

The Auburn 12-160A is one of only five examples certified by the ACD Club and its ownership can be traced back to the 1960s in Texas. It was in the care of Chuck Conrad, former CCCA President for a number of years prior to being purchased by the consignor.

The Auburn received a bare metal restoration that was completed in 2023, in time for it to be displayed at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance that year. It went on to receive an ACD Club Senior award at the annual ACD Club Reunion before being awarded Best in Show at the Keeneland Concours d’Elegance in July of 2024.

Four cars, including the aforementioned 1932 Auburn sold for more than $500,000. The most notable of these was the 1998 Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster that was featured in the movie “The Wolf of Wall Street.” It sold for $610,000, a decent amount above the expected range for a Diablo VT and likely thanks to its association with the movie.

Worldwide Auctioneers put on quite the show over Labor Day Weekend 2024 and they will be back in action in Scottsdale this coming January.
