2023 Audi RS e-tron GT – Instant Collectible or Future Forgettable?

2023 Audi RS e-tron GT project_513/2

Audi of America announced a limited production model consisting of just 75 examples of the 2023 Audi RS e-tron GT project_513/2. This was developed to be the closest to the prototype car that will ever hit the streets. It includes the type of camouflage that Audi employees to confuse the general public when testing a new car.

Particularly of note is the name of the model – the “project_513/2” is Audi’s internal designation, signifying the model’s type, generation, and body style. Normally this is kept strictly confidential, but it’s being used here to emphasize the close ties between this street model and the prototype.

This car will be the first offered with the Audi rings in red at the front and back of the car, another throwback to the color scheme of the prototype test cars. The front and rear ceramic brakes are painted red to match the rings.

The red highlights continue inside the car with the air vents matching the color of the rings along with red details on the steering wheel and leather seats.

The Audi RS e-tron GT project_513/2 is the company’s fastest accelerating production car, driven by two motors that produce a total of 637 horsepower and propel the car from 0 to 60 mph in just over 3 seconds.

The expected MSRP is $179,900 without destination and certain other charges that will be set by the dealer, which raises the question of whether or not this will be a collectible. There will only be 75 produced and Audi is painting a bit outside the lines on this model, but will the camouflage look stale in a few years? What about a decade from now? Time will tell if this rather unique style will attract buyers beyond the original owners.
