Fox Body Mustang Worth $78.5k on BaT

A 1993 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra that shows just 33,000 miles sold on Bring a Trailer Tuesday April 19 for $78,500. A Teal Metallic paint pairs well with the grey cloth interior and 17″ cast-aluminum wheels. The car is powered by a 5.0L V8 paired with a five-speed manual transmission with a Traction-Lok rear differential.

Other equipment on the car includes a rear spoiler, sunroof, AM/FM cassette stereo, air conditioning, and power brakes. With a clean Carfax and title we expected this to sell above the median value of $39,000, but the final price of $78,500 is proof of how strong the market for this generation Mustang is, especially the SVT Cobra version. It includes original books, SVT certificate, and window sticker.

Ford built 4,993 examples of the Mustang SVT Cobra for the ’93 model year and an even more limited 107 Mustang SVT Cobra R examples. This car is #1116 of the total built that year.

Bidding on this car leveled off at $50,000 until the final day of the auction when a couple early morning bids brought it to $52,000. The final 30 minutes of the auction saw the price jump from $57,000 up to the selling price of $78,500, with the final ten minutes of the auction accounting for nearly $10,000 of the bids.

Certainly if we see a 1993 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R at auction it will easily sell in the six-figure range, but this auction shows just show quickly the Fox body Mustangs are moving up in value. The day this car sold we’d probably say it was well sold, but give it a year or two and we’ll likely be wishing we could buy one for only $78,500!

Another 1993 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra is currently available on Bring a Trailer, this one in Vibrant Red with Opal Gray cloth interior. At the time of writing the bidding sits at $27,000 and has five days remaining. It doesn’t have quite the low mileage that the Teal Metallic one has, but it looks like it’s in great condition and also includes its window sticker.
