Mecum Las Vegas
Mecum will kick off their 2024 Las Vegas auction on October 17 with 1,000 vehicles set to cross the auction block at the Las Vegas Convention Center over three days. As we’ve come to expect from Mecum there will a number of collections on offer, but a few muscle cars – and one Datsun – stand out to us as worth a closer look.
This 1971 Dodge Charger Super Bee, coming from the Holden Grace Collection, features a matching-numbers 383 cubic inch V8 paired with its factory A833 four-speed manual transmission. It presents well in unrestored, survivor condition and includes its broadcast sheet.
It features some highly desirable factory options including a heavy duty clutch, pistol grip shifter, front and rear spoilers, and the heavy duty brake package that features power brakes. This also boasts a Rallye suspension, power steering, original Rallye wheels, and a special, corporate-ordered console-mounted microphone along with the AM/Cassette radio.
This 1969 Pontiac Firebird 400 benefits from a thorough, rotisseries restoration and is powered by a 400 cubic inch V8 that’s paired with an automatic transmission. It features power brakes, power steering, and air conditioning along with a pushbutton radio.
Drivability is improved thanks to the rear sway bar and the rear spoiler helps accentuate the lines of the orange paint and black vinyl top. It has all the makings of an enjoyable car to cover some decent miles.
Powered by the Tri-Power 427 cubic inch V8 engine that generates 435 horsepower, this 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible features a matching-numbers engine paired with an M21 four-speed manual transmission. It’s finished in Rally Red over a black interior and benefits from a frame-off restoration.
It’s equipped with numerous options that appeal to the Corvette enthusiast such as power windows, power steering, and power brakes. It includes a Protect-O-Plate as well as the original removable Rally Red hardtop. Listed in the C2 Corvette Registry as well as the NCRS Registry, this Corvette has nearly every option one could desire from the second generation of America’s sports car. It’s being offered with no reserve so someone will be leaving with a new ’67 Corvette Convertible.
Offered from The Nevada Collection, this 1981 Datsun 280ZX has covered just over 41,000 miles since it was new. Finished in gold with a tan interior, a classic color combination for the 280ZX, it’s powered by the 2.8L inline six-cylinder engine that is paired with a five-speed manual transmission.
It’s equipped with air conditioning as well as power windows and power locks. It benefits from a recent brake replacement and rides on Minilite-style wheels wearing new tires. These are increasingly popular cars and the original mileage on this example should help it bring a strong result on the auction block.
This European-delivery 1970 Shelby GT350 Convertible is one of just 57 built for the 1970 model year and one of only two examples produced with a four-speed transmission and finished in Grabber Orange. A matching-numbers example, it was originally delivered to Spain and was brought back to the US in 2023.
It recently underwent a thorough cosmetic refresh with the factory-correct paint color and a new convertible top fitted to it that’s only been lowered for the fitting process. It includes a Deluxe Marti Report and original window sticker, as well as copies of the original Shelby American order and owner’s manual.
It features power steering and power brakes with front discs as well as a Traction-Lok differential and the Deluxe interior option package. This is expected to get lots of attention due to the rarity of its configuration and the sheer attention-grabbing power of its exterior finish.
