The new BMW M8 has been announced and will be available as a Competition Coupe, Competition Convertible, or Competition Gran Coupe. BMW aims to live up to the high performance expected of anything wearing the M badge as well as the luxury experience we’ve all come to expect from BMW.
Powered by a 4.4 L V8 with an M TwinPower Turbo, the 2023 BMW M8 Competition will sport 617 hp at 6,000 rpm and 553 lb-ft of torque between 1,850-5,860 rpm – a very wide range for the torque. The V8 will pair with an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission delivering power to all four wheels through the M xDrive AWD system.
All that power will propel the M8 Competition from 0-60 in 3.0 seconds with a top speed of 190 MPH – if you opt for the M Driver’s Package. The Adaptive M Suspension will adjust each damper with electromagnetic valves in milliseconds, ensuring the M8 Competition will be right at home on a track or on the open roads.
Additional exterior colors will be available, including Tanzanite Blue II metallic and Frozen Pure Grey metallic from the BMW Individual options. The headlights will feature M Shadowline inserts that should produce a very striking aggressive appearance at the front of the car.
Continuing the celebration of BMW M GmbH’s 50th anniversary the M8 Competition models will have the option to feature classic BMW Motorsport logos in place of the standard BMW roundel. These feature blue, purple, and red semicircles reminiscent of the original M logo first used on race cars in 1973.
There will be a wide selection of options for the new M8 Competition including ceramic brakes, the “Driving Assistance Professional Package,” and M Compound Brakes with red or black calipers. Production of US models will begin in March.
