Splendor and Speed: Treasures of the Petersen Collection
A new exhibit opened at the Petersen Automotive Museum that offers visitors a chance to see some of the rarest and most significant vehicles in the museum’s collection. Displayed in the Bruce Meyer Family Gallery, the “Splendor and Speed: Treasures of the Petersen Collection” includes a 1967 Ford GT40 Mk III and Steve McQueen’s 1956 Jaguar XKSS.
In addition to the rare and exclusive cars available to view, an assortment of almost 100 design models and automotive concept art will be on display, as well as a selection of rare film footage.
The exhibit will be joined by another showing, “Fast/Forward: Strother MacMinn’s Sports Cars of the Future” on June 3. This will showcase a selection of sports cars from the 1950s united for the first time to highlight their innovative designs as documented in Strother MacMinn’s 1959 book, “Sports Cars of the Future.”
